Band of the Month: The Wild Things

This month’s band of the month are the incredible, The Wild Things. This West London indie rock group has already had an untameable start, having been a BBC London ‘Featured Artist of the week’. They’ve recently released a new track, Tell Me Why.

What inspired Tell Me Why?

Lyrically, Tell Me Why came from the emotion created through the music. Musically, it as a very emotive atmosphere, and the words fell out like a watching a movie!

What’s it like being part of the London scene?

It can be difficult and frustrating for bands starting out, which is why we curated our own festival, The Wild Things Bawl, as a way to allow bands and fans an opportunity to experience great live music in proper venues.

Syd and Cam used to be in the CBBC’s Young Dracula, what inspired the move from acting to music?

A desire to not be confined to when other people allow you to be creative. There are a lot of moving parts in TV/film, but in songwriting inspiration can hit you anytime.

What do you guys like to do when you’re not playing/practising?

There’s a lot of pizza and netflix involved!

Where did your name come from?

Well, The Beatles was taken, but when The Wild Things was mentioned, it clicked!

How did it feel to be featured by radio1?

In truth, we were sat for 4 days listening every night for that record to be played and when it did, we got very drunk.

Do you have any pre-gig rituals?

Lucazade and warming up. Wild, we know…

What are your plans for the future?

We’re releasing our new single (as part of ‘The Singles Club’), on 26/5/17 which we’re very excited about. More news to come!
